Electric Train and Trolley Line

The corner of Maple and England Streets holds a hidden secret! It was once a train station for an electric train from 1907 - 1917. The track was later converted to an electric street car that brought passengers back and forth from Richmond daily.

Ashland’s historic train and street car are discussed in the following video.

The interpretive kiosk at Stop 6 shares information about this engineering feat in our midst, and the ongoing work to convert the electric train’s route into the multi-modal Fall Line Trail from Ashland to Petersburg.
