Signal poles directing train traffic stand 25’ high to make them visible to engineers in modern train cabs. An example signal is displayed at Stop 9 in Pufferbelly Park.

The interpretive panel of Stop 9 explains the role of an engineer for safety and efficiency of train travel. It also highlights the contributions of female railroad inventors, including the first crossing gate to warn pedestrians and vehicles of an oncoming train.
