Ashland Train Station

The Mid-Atlantic Railroad Park’s self-guided walking tour begins inside Ashland’s iconic 1923 train station which doubles as the Ashland-Hanover Visitor Center, open to the public 9am-5pm daily. If you arrive after hours, the Park’s visitor information is also displayed outside the station, on an interpretive panel near the Town Clock.

The interpretive information for Stop 1 shares a brief history of the Town of Ashland and Randolph-Macon College, along with explanations of the train station’s architecture and living history. Further information about the town’s history can be found at Ashland Museum on Hanover Avenue.

Ashland’s history is intertwined with the railroad, as illustrated in these videos.
